“Please introduce yourself to the jury,” Purple Summers said.

“My last name is Parker, and I currently work as a designer for a fashion magazine in the United Kingdom.”

“What is Mr. Parker’s relationship with my client?” Purple Summers asked.

“We were once lovers,” the man glanced at Jane McCain, his eyes carrying a faint concern, “We dated for about half a year; it was an amicable breakup, and afterwards, I went abroad.”

“My client has been accused of murder by the prosecution. What are your thoughts on this?” Purple Summers inquired.

“I’ve seen the news reports; it’s impossible,” the man chuckled, “Janie is very timid, and she was dating me at the time, so there’s no way she could have taken an interest in that model called Philly.”

“Why are you so sure?” Purple Summers asked.

“Janie has some daddy issues, perhaps due to her parents’ divorce. She prefers older men. I’ve seen the pictures of the two victims in the news,” the man shrugged, “Although it might sound impolite to say so, they are definitely not Janie’s type.”

“I remember Jane McCain described Philly’s brother in her story,” Purple Summers picked up the transcript of the testimony and read it word by word, “Philly’s brother is more handsome, taller, and more mature than Philly.”

Marcel Jefferson handed out a stack of photos to the jury members.

The man in the photos was Philly’s brother, Kyle Matthew.

“Jane McCain’s mother called me.”

“Do you have any business contact with Mrs. Spencer in your work? Any collaboration?” Ian Conner pressed on.

The man frowned slightly, “Yes, Mrs. Spencer is one of the clients of our company.”

“So, may I interpret it this way?” Ian Conner asked, “If you give testimony against Jane McCain, your company could lose a very important client?”

“Objection!” Purple Summers said coldly, “The opposition is questioning the integrity of our witness.”

“Your Honor, the witness and the defendant have an obvious conflict of interest, and I believe it’s only right that the jury is fully informed,” Ian Conner argued.

The judge pondered for a moment before saying: “Objection overruled.”

Purple Summers’s complexion darkened.

Ian Conner continued his line of questioning: “Witness, please answer! If you make testimony detrimental to the defendant, could your company lose Mrs. Spencer as a client?”

The man hesitated, then replied, “It’s possible.”
