In the evening, when it was time to rest, Lu Weixi deliberately glanced at the windowsill. The window remained closed tightly, showing no signs of being disturbed. There was also a thin layer of dust on it–it was obvious that no one had climbed through in the last three days.

She looked down at her phone, Qin Zhiyou hadn’t sent a single message or made a call, as if he had never been there.

Turning her head, Lu Weixi saw Qin Zhiyou’s quilt and pillow, and suddenly felt a surge of inexplicable anger. Now, she wouldn’t let herself get sick from frustration like she did during her pregnancy. Disgusted by Qin Zhiyou, she punched the quilt and pillow with her small fists, but it still didn’t relieve her feelings. After thinking it over, she simply picked up the quilt and pillow and went out.

Outside, Lu Weixi’s mother was heading to the restroom and was startled when she saw her daughter carrying the thick quilt, “What’s wrong?”

“It’s dirty. I’m throwing it away.” Lu Weixi responded seriously, as if she was holding her nemesis.

Lu Weixi’s mother watched her daughter carry the quilt, struggled to open the door lock, and walked outside, then opened the building’s entrance door. It was clear that she didn’t just plan to throw it out the door; she wanted to walk to a nearby trash can.

Unexpectedly, halfway there, a car slowly drove in, and when the headlights flashed on, the person in the car was startled, “Young Madam?”

Facing the blinding headlights, Lu Weixi approached and saw that the driver was Secretary Wang. There was also someone vaguely in the back seat, and without a doubt, it had to be Qin Zhiyou.

Lu Weixi snorted and ignored the car, walked around it, and headed towards the trash can behind the vehicle.

Just as she got to the side of the car, the rear door opened and a man reeking of alcohol stumbled out–it was Qin Zhiyou. Lu Weixi ignored him and tried to move around him, but Qin Zhiyou flopped onto her, chuckling, “Xixi, wife, I’m back.”

“Let go, Mr. Qin. Who is your wife? Have some decency, please. Get lost!”

Luckily, the force with which Qin Zhiyou leaned on her wasn’t strong, and since it was an old neighborhood with narrow alleys, Lu Weixi stepped back against the wall but didn’t fall. However, she frowned and repulsed, used the quilt to push him away.

Qin Zhiyou got out, and Secretary Wang quickly opened the car door, “Young Madam.”

He also noticed the quilt in Lu Weixi’s hand, “What’s this about late at night?”

“It was used by some unclean person, it’s very dirty.” Lu Weixi replied disdainfully. Clueless, Secretary Wang offered, “Let me help you throw it away.”

Lu Weixi watched as Secretary Wang threw the quilt into a trash heap and, without another word, turned and walked toward the entrance door. Qin Zhiyou staggered after her, grabbing her wrist joyously, “Wife, I’m so happy, I’m really happy to see you.”

Lu Weixi tried to pull her hand away as Secretary Wang quickly stepped forward to help him, “President Qin has been working out of town these past few days. He intended to come right over after getting off the plane today, but the partners insisted, and he had to go to a dinner first. He secured a project and got too happy drinking.”

Lu Weixi pursed her lips and said nothing. Secretary Wang added, “There are some things in the trunk that President Qin bought for you. I’ll help him inside first, then I’ll bring them in for you.”

Before Lu Weixi could respond, Secretary Wang had already helped him into the building. The door was already open, and although Lu Weixi’s mother heard the noise and wanted to scold, she restrained herself upon seeing an outsider there.
