Chapter 1006: Chapter 1006: Nothing Will Happen_1 Chapter 1006: Chapter 1006: Nothing Will Happen_1 Time was drawing closer by the day, and the news heat was getting higher.

Almost all the students in the training academy were paying attention to the case because everyone knew that Purple Summers Simonson would defend the defendant.

This kind of thing, if it were any other student, would be incredibly unbelievable.

A trainee who had not yet graduated, merely passing the judicial examination, had started to serve as a criminal defense lawyer for a case with such significant impact.

But when it came to Purple Summers, it seemed only natural, and not a single person questioned her ability to defend.

It was as though a college student, who had not yet graduated, should be hired as a department head while her peers were racking their brains looking for internships.

Walking on campus, Purple started encountering people hitting her up for a chat, sometimes classmates, sometimes senior brothers and sisters.

They usually started with a greeting and then chatted for a few sentences about the case, asking if she was ready? Was the prosecution’s chain of evidence complete? Were the chances for an acquittal large?

There were also people who made requests similar to Norton Young’s, hoping to take this opportunity to gain experience and learn some “real combat” skills in court.

Purple declined them all.

This case concerned Jane McCain’s future; it wasn’t suitable to be used as a hands-on lesson plan for the trainees.

Friday arrived in the blink of an eye.

The entrance to the courthouse that day was nearly impassable, crowded with vehicles from all the major news media, and beyond them were frenzied reporters.

The case was a public hearing, and the spectator seats were limited; the reporters who had not snapped up a spot could only squat on the periphery, waiting for only a glimpse of Purple to swarm up to her as if a swarm of wasps were passing through–
“Ms. Simonson! For what reason are you defending this case? Do you firmly believe the defendant is innocent?”

“What are your plans for your future career? Do you plan to pursue a career in the legal profession?”

“Do you think this case will receive a not guilty verdict?”

“…Facing such a case, how do you overcome your psychological stress?”

Purple, escorted by her bodyguard, passed unfettered, treating all those questions as nothing but the wind past her ears.

Upon hearing one of the questions, however, her steps involuntarily slowed and she turned her head in puzzlement, “Nervous? Why should I be nervous?”

Seeing Purple stop, the camera lenses immediately aimed at her, flashing non-stop.

“Ms. Simonson! If you lose this case, your good friend will face life imprisonment at a minimum. Aren’t you worried at all?”

“Of course I’m worried, but there’s no need to be nervous. This is just a very ordinary case, a very common murder case among criminal cases. I think everyone’s reaction is too intense,” Purple said, her gaze fixed on the cameras, her voice calm, “The reason this case has caused such a sensation is actually just one thing.”

All lenses were now trained on Purple, waiting for her to reveal the answer.

Purple said, “Because of the catfish.”

The reporters: “…”

Seeing their confused faces, Purple shrugged and walked straight into the courtroom.

What she said was the truth. The giant catfish created psychological fear, accelerating the spread of the news. If you remove the factor of the catfish, this case would only be one of dismemberment – it would still be chilling but not as eye-catching anymore.

The courtroom was basically filled to capacity. Marcel Jefferson, back from his honeymoon and acting as Purple’s assistant, was organizing the case materials; Jane McCain’s mother, Aria Jackson, and Zara Jameson were all present to observe the court hearing, but Allen Rivera was nowhere to be seen.

“Where’s Allen?” Purple asked.

“He went to Bluebell Town again yesterday, not sure if he’s back now.” Aria lowered her head to check her phone, saw no unread messages, and sent a message to Allen.

On the other side, the jury gradually took their seats.

When the judge entered, the entire room quieted down, and an atmosphere of solemnity lingered as Jane looked nervously in Purple’s direction.

Purple gave her a slight smile.

Everything would be all right.
