Qin Zhiyou’s heart skipped a beat, having no idea how to explain his earlier words to Lu’s mother, especially since she already disliked him. “I accidentally made her angry–ouch!”

Before he could finish speaking, Lu’s mother threw a remote control at his leg. It seemed as if the mother and daughter had some kind of telepathic connection, as the remote precisely hit the spot on his shin that had been kicked twice already, causing Qin Zhiyou to flinch in pain.

Lu’s mother was furious. “Qin Zhiyou, you’ve grown bold enough to anger my daughter! Get out!”

Lu Weixi was lying at the head of her bed in her room, hearing his retreating footsteps. Initially, she was indeed angry, but now, she wasn’t just angry; she felt tired.

Although she had been crying earlier due to the pressure of work and life, it originally started because of something about Qin Zhiyou. She was not angry that Qin Zhiyou had forgotten their first meeting, nor was it about the unpleasant memories of the past. Rather, she realized that her love for Qin Zhiyou was growing day by day, but the feelings he reciprocated didn’t seem to match hers.

He did have feelings for her, but more so for the child. In his life, she was just one of many women. Although she meant a bit more than the others, if it wasn’t for the child, she probably wouldn’t stand out much.

Work issues might be resolvable. She could ignore Cai Yiren and the Bai Family’s provocations. But love wasn’t something that if one falls in love, the other has to reciprocate in the same way. She lacked confidence.

So, his departure earlier was just to retrieve his keys from his car.
