Chapter 1408: Chapter 1410: Space-Time Rift Chapter 1408: Chapter 1410: Space-Time Rift Upon closer inspection, a gigantic octopus was charging toward the Ghost Ship, its tentacles as thick as buildings and each about a hundred yards long. If a common vessel were to encounter it and get ensnared, its fate would undoubtedly be destruction and death.

Seeing such a terrifying sea creature, everyone’s face turned pale. This existence was not something skeleton soldiers could compare to.

“Scram!” Captain Swo bellowed, visible ripples in the air surged toward the massive octopus and slammed mercilessly into its mountain-like body.

With a loud “boom,” the octopus’s movements faltered; it leaped out of the water, tentacles flailing wildly as it lunged at the Ghost Ship.

In an instant, dark clouds bore down, casting a vast shadow over the entire Ghost Ship. Song Jian couldn’t help but take two steps back, summoning the Sky-breaking Sword, ready for battle.

Just then, Swo stepped forward, a Death God’s phantom emerging behind him. Swo, wielding a curved blade, fiercely slashed toward the octopus. As he did so, the towering phantom of the Death God behind him also raised the Scythe of the Death God high and swung it down viciously at the octopus!

A dazzling flash of white light swept past, the octopus emitted a piercing screech, its body sliced in two, and crashed into the sea with a thunderous “boom”.

Its tentacles were severed into countless pieces, which rained down into the ocean; some even hit the deck of the Ghost Ship, causing the whole vessel to tremble slightly.

“Is it dead?” someone asked in a shaken whisper.

The size of the octopus was so colossal that, like ants before a mountain peak, it evoked an inherent fear in people.

The strike from Death’s Scythe didn’t impress anyone due to the vast difference in their realms, but Song Jian had a nagging feeling that this attack had touched upon a realm beyond legend.

Although the octopus was cleaved apart with a single blow, no one dared to confirm whether this massive creature was truly dead.

“Hmph, Ossaeros, the Tetis Family’s pet, isn’t so easily killed. And as long as there are oceans, this creature will never die!” Captain Swo snorted, sheathing his curved blade and continuing, “It’s just that last time, by accident, I drove away its prey, and it’s been seeking revenge ever since. It appears each time we undertake the Doomsday Cruise Journey. But you lot are in luck, before the real Doomsday Cruise Journey starts, you’ll get to feast. Ossaeros’s body contains traces of the divine; consuming it will be greatly beneficial to you!”

Then, Captain Swo added in a lower voice, “Consider it your last meal before death…”

True enough, soon a group of skeleton crew members excitedly rushed over. They carried off the octopus’s thick tentacles, five or six meters long, back to the galley. Before long, a tantalizing aroma wafted from the ship’s kitchen.

Just by catching a few whiffs of the scent, Song Jian felt his Sword Qi and Spirit Points become more active. Not much later, Song Jian received several system notifications, indicating that the upper limits of his Sword Qi Value and Spirit Points had each increased by several points.

It was well-known that such increases were rare; they typically only occurred after associated attribute advancement. Now, just by smelling the aroma, he experienced an increase, which made Song Jian look forward to tasting the treat even more.

Soon, a group of skeleton soldiers emerged, carrying several slices of roasted octopus tentacle. Song Jian observed that apart from a thin wisp of white steam and looking cooked on the surface, these tentacles appeared nearly unchanged from when they were carried into the galley.

“Ha ha ha, go ahead and split these among them. It’s like they’ve not visited our Ghost Ship in vain,” laughed Captain Swo heartily.

These segments of octopus tentacles weighed over a thousand jin, so much that even if everyone stuffed themselves, they might not be able to finish it all. Song Jian received about fifty jin, and seeing this much meat, a look of surprise couldn’t help but appear on his face.

“Charcoal-grilled divine squid, could it be that the big guy we encountered earlier wasn’t an octopus, but a squid?” Song Jian thought to himself. Enticed by the savory smell, he couldn’t resist biting into a piece, and his eyes lit up immediately. The charcoal-grilled divine squid was chewy and crisp in his mouth, with a slight toughness as he chewed, and possessed an inherent salty fragrance. Those skeleton crew members had simply roasted it to perfection without using any seasonings, yet the taste was extraordinarily delicious;
Song Jian didn’t hesitate to dig in with gusto, and in no time, all fifty jin of the charcoal-grilled divine squid had made its way into his stomach.

It wasn’t until he felt stuffed that Song Jian suddenly came to his senses. He slapped his forehead, regretting to himself, “Greed, greed! You only need to eat three hundred grams of this divine squid to increase your Spirit Points by 200 and your Sword Qi Value by 500, as well as to enhance the recovery speed by 10%. Eating any more has no effect. Such a divine delicacy, worth a fortune, and I’ve eaten it all up!”

Song Jian looked up and saw that everyone else, both players and NPCs, were devouring the charcoal-grilled divine squid voraciously, their faces filled with an intoxicated look, seemingly completely immersed in the delicacy, with no intention of stopping!

Song Jian’s heart sank, “It seems it’s not just me that’s the problem, it’s the divine squid itself. It’s impossible to stop eating once you start…”

By now, Song Jian was still savoring the flavor in his mouth, looking unsatisfied and longing for more.

“Eh, where are we now?” Song Jian suddenly noticed that the Ghost Ship was no longer sailing on the sea. All around them was a thick fog and dense clouds. They had actually ascended into the sky.

The moment a surprised look appeared on Song Jian’s face, the entire Ghost Ship suddenly tilted upwards, like an arrow shot from a bow, it surged toward the sky with the speed of lightning. In the blink of an eye, it had pierced through the layers of clouds and entered the firmament.

“Are we…?” Song Jian exclaimed in astonishment.

However, Captain Swo and the skeleton crew did not pay any attention to their passengers. Instead, they were seriously maneuvering the ship, and Song Jian could feel a tense atmosphere emanating from them.

Soon, after everyone had finished eating the charcoal-grilled divine squid, they turned their attention outside the ship. At that moment, a faint milky-white light screen enveloped the surface of the Ghost Ship, keeping all the strong winds of the sky at bay.

“Prepare to enter the Space-Time Rift. The real Doomsday Cruise Journey is about to begin!” Captain Swo roared. As soon as his voice fell, the entire Ghost Ship began to tremble violently, and the ship’s structure made a ‘creak, creak’ sound, as if it could barely bear the strain.

Just as Song Jian worried that the Ghost Ship might disintegrate in the next moment, he suddenly found himself in a state of weightlessness, his senses vanished, his thoughts stalled, as though he was an insect encapsulated in amber.

It might have been an instant, or it could have been a long time, as the concept of time seemed to have disappeared. Suddenly, Song Jian regained his self-awareness, yet the previous sensations remained etched in his heart like a knife’s carving!

“Where are we…?” Song Jian looked around in horror, only to discover that the Ghost Ship seemed to have reached a strange space. All around was darkness punctuated by flashes of colorful lights that blinked in and out of existence, and far off, countless points shimmered continuously like a myriad of stars.

“Welcome everyone, to the Space-Time Rift. I hope you all have a pleasant journey on the Doomsday Cruise!” Captain Swo’s eye sockets blazed with a deep red flame that nearly spilled out, indicating his sheer excitement.

“The Space-Time Rift, so this is the Space-Time Rift…” Concerns began to rise in Song Jian’s heart.
